French toast is such a classic breakfast staple and the ways to make it unique and personal are many. This could be your favorite topping on the finished toast or perhaps your own special bread that gives it a crispy crunch.  

I’m always looking for ways to change up this family favorite while bringing it to new heights. Since we’re focusing on nutmeg this month I went in search of French toast recipes that put this warm spice at center stage. I think I found the perfect one to share with this thriving community. 

The weekend I tried this, my new baby granddaughter was visiting with the rest of her family, including my oldest son, his wife and their two older daughters who are 4 and 9 years respectively. Although the baby didn’t try it this time around the rest of the family thought it was a keeper!
