Tulsi sends out its flower buds pretty quickly in the season. Like its Latin name, Ocimum tenuiflorum, tenui meaning slender, and florum meaning flowers, you see profuse long and slender flower spikes with the most delicate pink flower petals poking out of the whorl of calyxes (protective green part).
